Not setting goals for your life and career is, to me, akin to going to the airport with no destination in mind. No one in their right mind would consider doing that yet it’s what most people do with their most valuable asset – their life.
If you do not have a plan for your life you can be sure someone else does and you’ll find yourself joining that sad group of people living lives of “quiet desperation,” as Throeau so aptly put it.

Setting big goals for all of the key areas in your life – family goals, career goals, health goals, and goals for your relationships, business, money, spirituality, and community, will literally pull you toward your success.

Goals give you a way to measure your progress and serve as a guide to help you stay on track.
Knowing your moving toward a goal that is important to you will serve as motivation to help you through the mundane parts of any success journey.
Goals give you reasons to jump out of bed each day, excited to get going.
When you write your goals, either in your written journal or digital form, be sure to phrase them in the present tense and in with a positive statement.
Saying, “I want to lose twenty pounds” is not as effective as saying, for example,
“I feel and look great, weighing one hundred fifteen pounds”
Feel and see yourself having already achieved your desires.
Remember your subconsciousness ind does not know the difference between what is real and what is vividly imagined, with feelings and belief.
Activity Steps
- Devote some time to brainstorm everything you can imagine wanting to have, become or do. Write it all down in your journal.
- From your list, extract one or two things, in each key area of your life, that you want.
- Write a present tense, postive affirmation for each of your key goals.
- Invest time in your success each day by visualizing and imagining your goals as though you’ve already achieved them.
- Pay attention to what is happening around you. Be expectant.
- When you receive an inspiration, act on it immediately. Success loves speed.
